Pinal County accepts cash, money orders, certified checks, personal checks, and credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. If a check bounces, there is a $25 NSF fee. This is one of the few Arizona counties that still accepts personal checks for probate filings.

The Pinal County fee schedule lists all costs for probate matters. Fees apply whether you file in person, by mail, or electronically.

An application for informal probate costs $251, whether the estate has a will or not. Affidavits of succession also cost $251. Guardianship and conservatorship petitions are $251. Formal probate petitions and contested matters cost the same. Post-judgment probate activities cost $162.

Other fees include $35 for claims against the estate, $35 for demands for notice, $35 for document certification, $0.50 per page for copies, and $35 per year for records research. There is an $8 postage and handling fee if you need documents mailed to you.

Pinal County Public Fiduciary

The Public Fiduciary serves as guardian or conservator when appointed by the court. This office manages the affairs of people who have no one else to help them. The court refers cases when a protected person needs someone to make decisions on their behalf.

The Public Fiduciary office is at 31 N. Pinal Street, Florence, AZ 85132. Call (520) 866-7252 for information. The office charges hourly rates for services: $100 per hour for the Director or Attorney, and $40 per hour for case managers, legal secretaries, finance staff, and benefits coordinators.

Pinal County Probate E-Filing

Pinal County participates in the eFileAZ system for some probate documents. You can e-file subsequent documents after your case is open. However, case-initiating documents and original wills must still be filed on paper. This is a statewide rule under Arizona law.

To use e-filing, create an account at eFileAZ.gov. The system guides you through selecting your court and case type. Some document types may not be available for electronic filing. Check with the clerk if you are unsure whether your document can be e-filed.
